Providing services for your conservation needs

I am available for freelance conservation work in Los Angeles, California and the surrounding areas. I also travel frequently for projects, and typically serve as an on-site conservator for museum or exhibition work. In addition to object-based work, I can provide consulting regarding storage and shipping, collection surveys to determine broad collection needs, and environmental recommendations for exhibits and long-term storage. Contact me to discuss the specific needs of your project.

Treatment Options

Materials Analysis

I am trained in a variety of analytical techniques, including both non-destructive and destructive methods. I am proficient in transmitted and reflected light microscopy, fiber and pigment identification, and chemical spot testing. My experience with advanced analytical techniques includes X-ray Fluorescence (XRF), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), UV-Vis Spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM).

Digital Documentation

All work involves the full written and visual documentation of an object or work of art.

Multi-Spectral Imaging

These techniques are useful both in laboratory and field settings, and when a non-invasive solution is needed for assessment and analysis of materials. Imaging can assist with materials identification and reveal obscured features. Options include a variety of advanced imaging techniques, including IR and UV photography.

Photography

I am proficient in digital and film photography, in studio, laboratory and outdoor settings, as well as image processing and color correction. I have extensive experience photographing challenging materials, such as highly reflective and translucent materials, and working with improvised set-ups in challenging conditions.
